Klaipėda Mayor Rimantas Taraskevicius offers a city’s welcome

Pictured at the city hall Klaipėda, Mayor Taraskevicius on 27th March expressed to Race Director Alan Green (left) and Event Director Henning Rocholl (right) his own and his city’s warm welcome for the Baltic Sprint Cup. The fleet will arrive at the city as part of the annual Festival of the Sea on July 26/27th participating in parades ashore and on the water.

About 1.5m mainly Lithuanian visitors come to the city during Festival time. The main prizegiving will feature a dancing display by a world-class team of Lithuanian dancers. Mayor Taraskevicius said his city was keen to build stronger links with sailing and the sea. Under the Mayor’s guidance reception facilities for sailing visitors to Klaipėda are undergoing dramatic improvement.
